As has become tradition, Cube has presented its new models for the 2019 season at its HQ. All that was good has remained, whilst various details have been refined and improved. For 2019, Cube has stayed loyal to Bosch and has several trail E-Bikes on offer. We’ve got all the details for you here.
Cube, the biggest bike manufacturer in Germany, will be on the radar of anyone who has an interest in high quality E-Bikes. At the 2018 product launch we saw lots of new features such as the integrated Bosch PowerTube battery or the racing-pedigree Stereo Hybrid 160 ActionTeam. For 2019, Cube hasn’t made any revolutionary changes — just small refinements such as moving to a 200mm rotor on the Stereo Hybrid 160 Action Team. Interestingly there’s been no changes to geometry — it seems Cube was satisfied with what it had — and there will be no more E-Full suspension bikes with semi-integrated batteries. Complete integration is the direction Cube is going in.
One model stands out. The Cube Reaction Hybrid HD. “HD” stands for Heavy Duty, and the E-Bike is rated for a total load of 150kg. You’ll find more details further down.
The Cube Nutrail Hybrid stays unchanged for 2019.
You can find details about the unpowered 2019 Cube mountain bike range here.
Stereo Hybrid 160
This range comprises Cube’s most capable trail bikes. Enduro racers and those who love hardcore trails will be happy with this 170/160 mm travel hard-hitter. If you’ve been waiting for a new ActionTeam model, we’re afraid you’ll be disappointed because there’s been just a few small changes. The rear disc rotor has grown to 200 mm but that’s it. No need to change such a top performer when it comes with such a great spec already.
The best bang for your buck comes with the Stereo Hybrid 160 Race 500, equipped with a RockShox Yari RC (170mm travel), Fox Float DPS EVOL shock (160mm travel), SRAM NX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain and a powerful Bosch Performance CX Motor, at a competitive price of € 3799.
Stereo Hybrid 140
E-Bikes in this range have at least 140mm travel and are capable machines on a variety of terrain whilst remaining agile and manouevrable. They are perfect for capable riders who like to ride fast. We particularly like the look of the Stereo Hybrid 140 TM 500 27.5, which, thanks to its Trail Motion design, combines well-judged components with a competitive price. 150mm travel up front provides this eMTB with even more control and the Magura MT7 brakes provide the ultimate in braking power. Just like in 2018, the price for this model is € 4799.
We’ve already put some mileage on the Stereo Hybrid 140 TM 500 and our initial impression are very positive.

Stereo Hybrid 120
There’s a lot of competition in the market for 120mm travel E-Bikes. Cube has several models on offer, some of which have a premium carbon frame. The component spec of the Stereo Hybrid 120 HPC SLT 500 will wake anyone’s desire. A Bosch performance CX motor, Bosch PowerTube 500 battery, Shimano XTR shifting and braking, Bosch Kiox display, carbon saddle and supportive 120mm suspension for € 6499.
We had the chance to test the Stereo Hybrid 120 at the launch. The stiff carbon frame, the 29” wheels and the supportive suspension make this a veritable trail-rocket. Despite the challenging riding, at no point did we feel the need for more travel. We want to do some more thorough testing, but our first impression are very good.
Cube Sting Hybrid HD
The Sting series is Cube’s range of women’s bikes. There’s a particular emphasis on contact points such as saddle, grips and cockpit.
Elite Hybrid C:62 SLT
Full speed racer for extreme speed
The name Elite is used with good reason for these bikes. Cube has a lot of experience building carbon frames and knows the particular demands put on eMTBs. The carbon frame of the Elite Hybrid C:62 SLT is constructed with Cube’s proprietary C:62 fibres and is both lightweight and stiff. The low centre of gravity, the low weight of less than 20kg and the efficient design with its oversized downtube creates an eMTB with agile handling.
Every detail on this platform has been thought through and has a specific purpose. The slim frame conceals lots of practical details. The Bosch PowerTube battery is completely concealed in the elegant downtube. There it’s protected from impact and also results in a low centre of gravity. The cleanly designed frame will fit two bottle and the updated Agile Ride Geometry provides great handling.
One model worth pointing out in the range is the Reaction Hybrid Eagle. It is equipped with a SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain with an 11-50 cassette and will cost €2799.
Reaction Hybrid HD
Finally, an E-Bike for the sturdy riders among us
A complaint we often hear is that there are no E-Bikes available for the heavier among us. What do you do if you exceed the usual load limit of 120kg? The engineers at Cube have you covered with the Reaction Hybrid HD, an E-Hardtail that can carry up to 150kg total load. This model went through extensive in-house testing and material testing at Velotec, comes in sizes from 17” to 23” and is fitted with 29” Newmen wheels that are rated up to 180kg.
The Reaction Hybrid HD is priced at € 3399.
The Acid range is perfect for leisure riders who like to journey on forest roads. The Superlite Aluminium frame features hydroformed tubes, high quality finishing and provides good handling. It’s available as both a men’s and women’s model. The Bosch PowerPack 500 battery has been set neatly into the downtube and a minimal cover creates a streamlined look. The “Agile Ride Geometry” guarantees intuitive and easy handling and the integrated mounts should make installing mudguards a breeze. Cables are routed internally and as such are protected from muck and dirt. The heart of these models is the Bosch Active motor, that provides reliable and silent assistance. The price for the Pro model with an air sprung fork and 10 speed gears is €2199
Acid 240 Hybrid Youth
24” and Bosch Active motor with 40Nm — ideal for kids
It’s not as simple to adapt a kids mountain bike frame to a Bosch power unit as the Acid 240 Hybrid makes it seem. With its years of experience, Cube has managed to create something that integrates the Bosch Active motor neatly and will let kids have just as much fun riding their E-bikes as we do. The premium aluminium frame has been constructed so that the the motor and semi-integrated PowerPack 400 battery are in the optimum position. That results in great handling, as well as a streamlined look.

We like the updates that Cube has made to its range. If the geometry and spec is already right, why reinvent the wheel? The improvements featured simply update key features — perhaps upgraded gears or larger disc rotors. We particularly liked the look of the stereo Hybrid 120, the Stereo Hybrid 140 TM and the Stereo Hybrid 150 Race. The latter is available for €3799 — for an eMTB with 150mm travel that’s a very competitive price!
The Acid 240 Hybrid is a neat trail bike for the younger rippers, allowing them to keep up with their parent’s electrified rides.
We also think that making E-Bikes accessible to heavier riders with the Reaction Hybrid HD is a brilliant idea!
What do you think of the newest iteration of Cube’s E-Bike range? Pretty nice things right?
