POSITION SUMMARY
The Developer Protective Gear is responsible for driving the development, engineering, fit execution
and specifications for innovative products while maintaining the surf inspired aesthetics. We build
products that work- and are a little bit rad.
JOB DESCRIPTION
• Reports directly to the Head of Protective Gear on all issues relating to development, pro-
duct quality, garment costs, vendor relations, and daily communication for the assigned product lines
• Plans and tracks the development of all assigned products to ensure a timely completion
within the agreed development timeline
• Creates and maintains tech packs including bill of materials, measurement chart and
construction detail page to ensure consistency throughout the entire development process
including documentation
• Negotiates cost breakdown directly with the factory on material costing and consumption to
meet agreed target cost
• Reviews and comments all prototypes, salesman samples and pre-¬production samples
• Ensures both the technical superiority and the product quality of all assigned products
• Communicates closely with all related vendors and suppliers on a daily basis
• Contributes trim and fabric sourcing, packaging and manuals as well as range planning and
translation into final range with all details (Rangelist) from item number to quotation
• Participates in Agency Briefings
• Respects timelines and deadlines in the entire D&D Process
• Assists designer with all aspects of the line development
• Collaborates with the product team to achieve target profit margins each season.
• Researches and monitors market trends and identify appropriate material and technology
pportunities and applications.
SKILLS
• Knowledge of the product category assigned.
• Successful project management skills, knowledge of product lifecycle and development
timelines.
• Knowledge of materials and technologies used to build ION products.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and English
• Strong organisational and interactive skills
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Willingness to contribute to the Team success and walking the extra mile to lift ION to the
next level
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Adobe Illustrator.
• Domestic and International travel is required.
• Willing and able to be an active participant in category activities in order to understand the
product and consumer demographic culture is strongly preferred.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• 3+ years of related professional experience.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in Product Development in a medium or large size Sports
company, preferably in the bike/action/outdoor sports industry.
• Bachelor‘s degree in development, construction, and/or patternmaking, or equivalent com-
bination of education and experience
